Upcoming wrestler and daughter of wrestling legend MahavirPhogat, RituPhogat called on Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel today at his official residence.Goel was delighted to see the talented young Ritu and was aware about her good track record. Ritu is the youngest of the Phogat sisters who have gained popularity due to their sheer hard work and guidance by father and coachMahavirPhogat who is a Dronacharya Awardee.
Goel stated that just like cricket, other indigenous sports like wrestling and kabaddi must be given a big boost and various leagues are paving way for their success and helping us gain prominence in the global arena. “We are committed to provide the best to our players and my doors are always open if you have any issues or would like to share your suggestions”, Goel added.
Interacting with the media Ritu said, “Wrestling has a very rich history and we have continued to do well in this sport”. Ritu also thanked Goel for his continued support to sportspersons. Sports Minister Goel wished her all the very best and stated that in the years to come, Ritu will bring laurels to the nation and we must watch out for her in the Tokyo Olympics to be held in 2020. President of Wrestling Federation of India Brijbhushan Sharan was also present to convey his best wishes to Ritu. In the recently concluded auction of the Pro Wrestling League, RituPhogat was bought by new entrants Jaipur for Rs 36 lakh – higher than Olympic medalistSakshi Malik.
