Union Minister and former BJP Delhi President Vijay Goel rode a cycle with hundreds of party workers in a 7km long cycle rally in Laxmi Nagar. Goel said that instead of the full statehood, pollution would be the major issue in the upcoming polls because of which 10,000 people die every year in Delhi alone. According to a study, Delhi ranks first among 1600 polluted cities in the world.
Goel said that he would hold cycle rallies and park meetings to inform common people how Kejriwal has left them to die due to pollution by taking no remedial action in this regard.
Goel said pollution is the real issue in Delhi; full statehood is just an eyewash by Kejriwal that he is unable to deliver because he does not have complete executive powers. However, executive powers in areas like environment, education, transport, and unauthorized colonies are vested with the Kejriwal government. Goel asked if Kejriwal could not deliver in these areas, why should he be given powers of full statehood?
Goel said that PM2.5 and PM10 levels in Delhi have crossed the mark of 400, yet funds of Rs 1200 crore meant for a clean environment are lying idle with the government. Be it industrial smog, vehicles or road dust, Kejriwal has failed to act on these major contributors of Delhi’s pollution. Kejriwal could not hoodwink the people of Delhi by implementing the odd-even scheme which anyway failed to make an impact.
Goel appealed to the voters of Delhi to make the BJP victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Delhi would witness development only when the BJP is in power in both the state and in the Centre.
