The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Shri Vijay Goel today announced that the three municipal corporations ruled by the BJP in Delhi will not hike any parking rates and house tax rates. The steps are being taken after Shri Goel chaired a meeting of the leaders from the MCDs and discussed measures to make MCDs more and more people friendly and transparent.
Addressing a press conference today along with senior leaders of the MCDs, Shri Goel said, “A new rationalised policy for farmhouses converted into motels, hotels and banquet halls is on anvil. This would be displayed online so there is no ambiguity.”
Shri Goel outlined the following steps being taken by the MCDs to provide clean and people-friendly administration:
- 64 items including booking of community halls have been listed online for which bookings can be done online and payments can be made.
- All payments to contractors are now given through Electronic Clearance Scheme(ECS)
- Salaries of all MCD employees are paid through ECS.
- Property tax on heritage sites would be waived off.
- Rebate on property tax for aided schools.
- To ensure that councillor fund can be spent on unauthorised colonies, delegation of BJP leaders would meet the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and other authorities concerned in Delhi government.
- All levies and taxes are being rationalised and being displayed online. Many of them can be paid online, it is being ensured that Delhi’ites should have the option of paying all their charges to MCD online while sitting at home.
Shri Goel said, “There have been attempts in the past by Congress government to scuttle various welfare measures to be taken by the MCD. Funds were not released in time. There is an attempt still going on to thrust certain officials as Commissioners of the MCDs. We would be taking up this issue with the Lieutenant Governor again as we have done in the past. The BJP would resist any attempt to scuttle the working of MCDs as it concerns welfare of lakhs of people.”
“We have discussed ways and means of making MCD more responsive and establish stronger communication network and an interactive mechanism so that people’s feedback can be incorporated in the policy making,” added Shri Goel.
