The Hindu- AAP distributing wine to lure voters, claims BJP

The BJP on Saturday alleged that AAP was trying to influence voters by distributing wine in the JJ clusters of Delhi.

The AAP, Union Minister and former Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel alleged, was still operating call centres despite legal restrictions on campaigning, and using these to “misguide” voters and propagate “rumours” against BJP candidates. “The AAP is repeatedly violating the model code of conduct… A delegation of the BJP have apprised the Election Commission that Congress and AAP may adopt unfair practices,” Mr. Goel said. “The AAP is trying to influence voters by distributing wine… we have requested the EC to take the assistance of the police and the Excise Department to stop the party [AAP] from doing the same,” he said further.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, alleged that AAP had “crossed all the limits of immorality” and continued to “spread rumours”. He also accused AAP of being “anti-Sikh” and argued that efforts were made to get a bail for Sajjan Kumar who had been sent to jail for his involvement in the 1984 riots.

Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal, meanwhile, alleged that AAP had crossed all limits in relation to “whatever was being done by it in East Delhi”. “They [AAP] is distributing wine… there are many areas in Delhi, including Okhla, from where we are getting such reports and action should be taken against it. Atishi is misleading people and this should be taken into cognisance,” he said.
