GUWAHATI, Jan 3: BJP’s national general secretary and Assam in-charge of the party, Vijay Goel, the party’s Assam election in-charge Varun Gandhi, MPs Bijoya Chakraborty, Ramen Deka, Rajen Gohain and others today met Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India SY Quraishi and raised the issue of abnormal rise in the number of voters in Assam in the 2010 electoral rolls. While  the rise in voters at the national level is 1.6 per cent, it is 16 per cent in Assam.

NEW DELHI, 16 DEC: While inaugurating the Annashree Yojana here today, the chief minister, Mrs Sheila Dikshit, said that Rs 600 given to the senior female member of a family is sufficient to provide food for a family of five. Reacting sharply over her statement, general secretary of BJP, Mr Vijay Goel said that the Chief Minister’s statement that Rs 600 is enough to sustain a family of five to buy wheat, rice, dal and sugar per month is a cruel joke on the poor.

The Delhi BJP slammed the chief minister Sheila Dikshit for her comment that `600 per month could provide basic needs like pulses and rice for a family of five. Ms Dikshit, however, responded by saying that her remark had been presented out of context and those criticising the scheme had not understood the concept.

BJP leader Vijay Goel on Sunday said that there should be competition among discoms so that the electricity tariffs that were hiked recently come down. Goel was speaking at the first conclave of a new umbrella body of Federation of New Delhi RWAs.  The federation will work closely with the elected representatives in formulating policies that affect the citizens.

पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री एवं भाजपा के राष्ट्रीय महामंत्री विजय गोयल ने कहा कि बिजली लोगों की जरूरत है, इसका फयदा मुनाफा कमाने के लिए नहीं होना चाहिए। दिल्ली सरकार और बिजली कंपनियों के खिलाफ शुरू किये गए आंदोलन में गुरुवार को उन्होंने शास्त्री नगर के एक पार्क में लोगों की राय भी इस संबंध में पूछी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकारें जनता को निजी कंपनियों के हवाले करके अपनी जिम्मेवारी से बचना चाह रही है, जबकि यह पूरी तरह से गलत है।

West Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha today said the strike was a huge success, with scattered incidents of violence. – As many as 1,148 BJP bandh supporters were arrested and 450 of them slapped with non-bailable charges. At least 35 supporters have been arrested in Kolkata, and 12, 9 and 39 supporters in Burdwan, Uttar Dinajpore and Hooghly respectively have been sent to 14 days' police custody. 

Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Goel on Wednesday insisted that even after notification of regularisation of 917 unauthorised colonies the ground reality therein was unlikely to change much and demanded that proper ownership rights be bestowed on the residents of these colonies.
