NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP leaders on Saturday met President Pranab Mukherjee and demanded dismissal of Sheila Dikshit government on the grounds of "deteriorating" law and order situation in the national capital.

Around 200 protesters from the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party were detained by the police after they tried to march towards the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday evening. NEW DELHI: Among the several places where protesters assembled on Saturday, besides the Delhi Police headquarters, were the Gandhi Nagar police station, AIIMS, India Gate and residences of union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and chief minister Sheila Dikshit. New Delhi was turned into a fortress with water cannons stationed outside the residence of the home minister but the cops denied allegations of imposing section 144 in the area.

A five-year-old girl was brutally raped and assaulted allegedly by her neighbour while being held captive and starved for two days in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar. She also contracted infection from foreign objects inserted in her body.
