Volunteers of Lok Abhiyaan will give a flower to 67 AAP MLAs along with a demand letter on the Odd Even scheme

MP Vijay Goel said that that Kejriwal government itself is thoroughly confused about the scheme. Secondly, it is misleading the public on the scheme and is using taxpayer money amounting to crores of rupees to publicize the face of the CM.

Mr. Goel has declared that the 67 MLAs of AAP at various locations in the city will be presented with a flower along with a demand letter that shall bring to light how the odd even scheme has been implemented without any planning and preparation and hence the public is suffering and the pollution levels are indeed increasing. The letter will also demand an account of crores of rupees spent on the scheme without any answerability. Furthermore, the letter will list the problems the common public is facing due to this scheme. The gross corruption that is being practiced under the garb of the scheme will also be highlighted in the letter.

Mr. Goel said that we are actively recruiting volunteers for this drive. The volunteers will go on motorcycles and scooters wearing a distinct T-shirt to meet AAP MLAs and will humbly present them a flower and the demand letter along with a request to cooperate.

These MLAs are elected representatives of the public but their head of government is practicing anarchy and forcing people; this should end immediately.

Mr. Goel said that the Delhi government is deliberately confusing people under the name of Odd even scheme to divert attention from issues like availability of water, electricity, facilities in illegal colonies and slums etc. The AAP government is implementing the scheme as if it were a game of Ludo.

Transport Minister Mr. Gopal Rai in self-praise has already declared the success of the scheme but the public is negating this claim. If he is so convinced with the success of the scheme then why doesn’t he declare the permanency of the scheme? By giving a statement that in future even two wheelers will have to comply with the scheme, the CM is scaring people who use two wheelers.

Mr. Goel said that if this scheme was thought through and implemented with proper planning then this scheme could have been successful but now only the public will give its verdict. The government’s short sightedness and ridiculous expenditure on the publicity has not only annoyed the public but also failed a policy that could have been a success. The last time round I was the first person to cycle and show my support for the scheme. But, now the AAP government is only interested in making money from this scheme.

Mr. Goel said that he is not against any good scheme but he is working towards improving the scheme and showing direction to the AAP government.

MP Vijay Goel asks 8 questions to the Kejriwal government pertaining to the Odd Even Scheme:

MP Vijay Goel asks 8 questions to the Kejriwal government pertaining to the Odd Even Scheme:

If someone with an odd numbered car wants to purchase a second car with an even number or vice –a- versa then he will have to shell out at least Rs. 20,000. Why is the government auctioning out car numbers?
Who will compensate for the 15-day salary of the driver?
What about the fact that the revenue the government gets from charging road tax would be reduced? Will the government compensate taxpayers for the days they cannot use the service for which they are duly paying for?
When will the government provide a detailed account of the expenditure amounting to crores of rupees done on the Odd Even scheme?
The government should stop publicizing this scheme as pollution reduction scheme and should instead put out the truth i.e. it reduces only traffic congestion that too through forced fines
What about commercial taxis that pollute the most?
By what percentage has the sale of cars risen in the capital post the Odd Even scheme?
Mr. Goel said that the Kejriwal government is exploiting the people of Delhi and is extorting money from all corners under the name of the Odd Even scheme. If someone has an odd numbered car in the house and wants to purchase a second car, it is obvious that he/she would want to purchase an even numbered car.

If you want to specifically purchase either an odd or even numbered car then you would have to at least pay Rs.20, 000 as black to the Delhi government. But, it would be portrayed to you as if you are being given the number of your choice. All the purchaser wants is an odd or an even numbered car because there is no sense in having two cars that are both odd/even.

Those people who only have one car are demanding an answer from the Delhi government – that who is going to pay half the salary of their drivers in a given month?

Mr. Goel said that when the people are paying the road tax for an entire year then will the government refund the deserved amount to the people for not being able to use the service for 15 days a month?

It is my sincere request to the Delhi government that they should stop publicizing the Odd even scheme as pollution reduction scheme but instead should make it clear that is a way to reduce only traffic through forced fines.

Mr. Goel said that his protest would continue against the government and its policies that make life miserable for the common man whose money is being misused by the government on self – promotions.

The protest will continue until a detailed account of the expenditure under the garb of the Odd Even scheme is provided – Goel

First they give a flower and then slap a fine of Rs.2000 on the public. Keeping his promise, Member of Parliament Mr. Vijay Goel drove from his house and paid the fine. Mr. Goel said that the sequence of events unfolded as was expected. First Delhi’s transport minister Mr. Gopal Rai came to his residence offering him a flower. In return Mr. Goel gave him a bouquet of flowers with the demand that the AAP stop the corruption under the name of Odd Even scheme and if not then Goel’s protest will continue.

Mr. Goel said that they give me a flower and then fined me as well the same way other citizens are also cheated. The problem is that Mr. Kejriwal says that if someone disobeys the Odd Even rule then give them a flower with all love and kindness.

Mr. Goel added that he is happy that the right message has been received by the people of Delhi through his protest; which is that the Kejriwal government is spending hard earned tax money of the public amouting to crores of rupees on self – publicity and political gain. The surprising fact is that the money owed to the people of Delhi is not only being spent on ridiculous advertisements in Delhi but also in other states. Why do the AAP ministers and the CM cycle and carpool only for a few days? Why don’t they set an example and follow this practice everyday and do their bit.

Mr. Goel also said that the transport minister Mr. Gopal Rai had no answers as to why is the fine on not wearing a life saving helmet only Rs200 and that on the Odd Even rule is Rs2000?

Mr. Goel said that why are people being charged Rs21,000 if they want to buy a car with an alternate number i.e. if they want to purchase an odd numbered car if they have an even numbered car? There is also no action on Uber and Ola who are exploiting the people.

The people who are today teaching us the law of the land, I want to remind them of the times when the AAP despite being the governing party sat on a protest on 26th January, when Mr. Kejriwal climbed an electricity pole, when he refused to pay the electricity bill and when your leaders were being caught on charges of corruption?

He said that everyone wants the Odd Even scheme to be a success except the AAP. AAP wants the scheme to fail and then put the blame of the failure on my party, the BJP and me. Hence, they haven’t implemented this scheme with full planning.  Moreover, there has been no action on major reasons of pollution such as road dust, industrial emissions, solid waste burning etc. and the neglect on these factors is the major reason that we don’t see pollution levels rising despite the Odd Even scheme. Lastly, without any application of mind some people have been exempted from the scheme and there is also no sense to the list of VIPs that have been exempted and those that haven’t.

Mr. Goel said that he was fined with his will, where he offered to pay the fine for not having his license at that moment like any other ordinary citizen. He had all other required papers, so this is a non-issue. If it wasn’t for the protest then “my car is always driven by my driver.”

With the slogan of ‘Dilli bole dil se – lootmar kyun phir se’ Vijay Goel will pay the fine of Rs 2000

In order to protest against the unnecessary cores of money spent on publicity being done of Kejriwal under the name of Odd Even scheme, MP Vijay Goel on Monday 10:00am will leave his house in an odd car with the number DL 3CCC 2727 for Parliament annexe.

Mr. Goel said that he is not against the Odd Even scheme but against the gross misuse of public funds amounting to crores of rupees to publicize the CM and plaster his photograph everywhere in the city and beyond. Visit any corner of the city and you will come across huge hoardings, plenty in number with Kejriwal’s photo on it. The ridiculous publicity is not limited to just hoardings, but advertisements on radio and TV channels every 5 minutes, full page Advt. in newspapers are the norm as if people aren’t already aware of the scheme.

Mr. Goel has demanded that the CM should be personally liable to refund the expenditure on the publicity of the scheme to the public exchequer and he should also apologize to the people of Delhi.

Mr. Goel said that he fails to understand that why every 15 days on an ad hoc basis the scheme is being implemented if it indeed is so popular among the people – why not implement it permanently? It is because then Mr. Kejriwal will not have any excuse to spend taxpayer money on his own publicity.

Mr. Goel added that it is common sense that people who are exempted from the Odd Even rule are happy with the scheme and those who are not are disappointed. It is quite clear that this scheme has nothing to do with reducing pollution levels as the vehicles that are more polluting are on the roads in large numbers and those that are least polluting have been taken off the roads. Moreover, other major reasons for pollution are being ignored completely.

Mr. Goel sympathized with the common man and said how can he/she afford to pay Rs. 2000 as fine. If the fine for cutting a red light and not wearing a seat belt or helmet is around Rs200, then it is criminal to have a fine of Rs.2000 for not following the Odd Even rule. Flowers should be given instead.

Mr. Goel said that him paying the fine is a symbolic protest against the corruption being practiced under the garb of the scheme. The success or failure of the scheme is not in the hands of AAP and BJP. The final verdict will be that of the public.

Kejriwal government should apologize to the public for using their tax money on unnecessary adverts – Vijay Goel

Member of Parliament Vijay Goel will pay the fine of Rs2000 on Monday as a mark of his protest against the gross misuse of public funds. Sharpening his attack on the Delhi government, Goel demands an answer as to exactly what amount has been spent on the publicity of the Odd Even scheme amounting to crores of rupees? There is not a single commercial hoarding in Delhi spared of Kejriwal’s photo under the garb of Odd Even scheme. The same scenario resonates in newspapers, TV channels and radio stations.

Mr. Goel has demanded that the CM should be personally liable to refund the expenditure on the publicity of the scheme to the public exchequer. This demand is not a new one as even earlier Lokyutka and courts have given rulings wherein money has been recovered from individuals.

Mr. Goel also said that his Facebook statement clearly states that his protest is against the political posturing by AAP which is using the Odd Even scheme’s publicly funded advertising budget to plaster Kejriwal’s photo everywhere. I am saddened by the fact that instead of answering my questions, CM’s reply via a tweet misrepresented my statement and falsely claimed that my party and me are against the scheme. In fact my Facebook statement mentioned that if it is being stated that the scheme was a success in its first phase then the Delhi government should make it permanent. But, instead the AAP will play this ludo game every 15 days and get an opportunity for publicity.

The fact of the matter is that the January phase of the scheme was during school holidays and despite that pollution levels did not decrease. Probably even Kejriwal government is aware that due to the lack of transport infrastructure, non-action on other major pollutants and routine school season, this scheme is bound to fail in this phase. This is the reason the AAP is spreading rumors that it is the BJP that is opposing.

If Odd Even 2.0 is successful then the credit will go to the AAP and if it is unsuccessful due to the public getting tired of paying the fine of Rs. 2000 or some many other reasons then as usual the AAP will blame the BJP for failure.

Mr. Goel added that a fine of Rs 2000 is extreme and uncalled for and should be reduced.  For instance, fatal actions like breaking the red light or not wearing the seat belt attract a far lesser fine. It would be nice to witness the Delhi government giving roses to people who break the Odd Even rule as a token of their support for this scheme, instead of fining them. Why were 1311 people fined and not given roses on Day 1 of the scheme?

Mr. Goel finally said that he is for any endeavor that is in the interest e of Delhi, reduces pollution and traffic congestion or brings relief to the people of Delhi.

An attack on the unity of the country will not be tolerates – Vijay Goel

Today, under the leadership of Shri Vijya Goel ‘Lok Abhiyaan’ along with more than twenty social organizations staged a protest against anti-national activities in the capital.

Mr. Goel said the protest is not to demand anything, but instead to showcase our objection towards the anti-national activities occurring in the country. Sympathy for a convicted terrorist and slogans against the country were raised in a renowned university in the Capital, and no citizen can accept this. More of such street displays, programs and meetings in localities etc. will continue till that time political parties including the Congress stop daring to support anti – national activities.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that while Modi promotes Make in India, other parties are busy promoting Break in India. Government of India is working hard to try and connect people from all walks of life in the nation so that the country can develop and Indian people can enjoy a better standard of living, and thus will not entertain any activities that are detrimental to this process. Some parties for their personal benefit are failing to understand that in doing so they are not only harming the country but also their parties.

Mr. Goel also said that while on one hand where the Modi Government is continuously pursuing efforts to bring in new and innovative policies and schemes and do effective work, on the other side anti – national people at JNU are trying to malign the image of an education institution. Frivolous behavior of the Congress can be attributed to their nervousness after seeing the development of the nation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mr. Goel said that he strongly condemns physical assault to anyone, but the real question is why are we not condemning the attack on the unity of the country.

Rajya Sabha MP and President of Heritage India Foundation, Shri Vijay Goel led a ‘Heritage Marathon’

New Delhi, 13th Dec 2015: Citizens of Chandni Chowk participated in the “Heritage Marathon” organized by Shri Vijay Goel. Eminent personalities such as MoS PMO Jitender Singh, Mayor Ravindra Gupta, Standing committee chairman Shri Mohan Bharadwaj and MCD Commissioner P.K. Gupta also joined Goel in the marathon. The marathon commenced from Jama Masjid, Police station, Dharampura and ended at Khari Bawli.  The marathon witnessed the participation of hundreds of young tourism lovers and heritage enthusiasts.

Goel said, “There is an urgent need to save the historic walled city of Delhi whose rich cultural and architectural heritage is under serious threat due to unauthorized and illegal constructions”. The effects of these are evident in the decline in the number of people visiting Chandni Chowk.

Shahazhanabad, Old Delhi has nearly 525 havelis that were constructed in that 19th and 20th century. The architecture in these havelis has had the influence of Hindu, Mughal, British and European art. These structures have a lot of tourism potential, yet almost all of them are in a pathetic condition. Despite the government declaring these structures as ‘protected’, no major steps are being taken and only inspector raj is being practiced.

The problems of ever increasing congestion, dilapidated roads and the increasing number of rickshaws in the area have made it a pedestrian averse area. The city, he said is in shambles and there is a dire need to restore the old charm of Chandni Chowk. The civic bodies, MCD and Delhi government have only been holding meetings and discussions but due to their neglect, nothing is changing in practice. The Shahazhanabad Development Board needs to be a lot more efficient in dealing with this menace and should be given more teeth to take any stern steps.

MoS PMO, Shri Jitender Singh said that “There is a dire need to preserve the 400 year old heritage of Chandni Chowk and the marathon is an effective way to draw the attention of young Indians towards this cause.”

Mayor Shri Ravindra Gupta said that “The current condition of Chandni Chowk is such that urgent cooperation is required between the Centre, Delhi government and other related civic bodies to improve things.”

The marathon effectively highlighted the problems in Old Delhi and was symbolic of the need to revive the ever fading glory of Chandni Chowk. It was organized with the support of RWA and local shopkeepers. The conveners of the marathon were Suman Gupta and Jai Prakash and the co – conveners were Ajay Bhardwai, Shyam Singh and Dhruv.
